Get hon Parade!
Da–diddle–ah–dah, tiddley–ah–daah! Daah...daah...
Morning and the bugles blast their message
Get on Parade! Then the 'double–up' call.
Da–da–ta–ta–da–da–ta–ta, da–da–da, da–dah!
Divisions form up facing to starboard
Facing the flags and funnels on the walls
Two ordered lines running up the Maindeck
From Halfdeck up to the Gymnasium.
The cries of Petty Officers ring out
Taking their tallies of the morning lines.
The youths are stalwart—
braced back hard bare knees
Marshalling their goose–bumps
in the keen estuary breeze.
Then Mister Mason
(known as 'Screaming Skull')
Lets out a mighty roar and every youth
Comes to a stern attention as The Dep
Steps from the Halfdeck,
stands with toes turned up
Marshalls men with the magic of his voice.
